Eik Eikenberry MS, LCSWA

About Eik

Growing up as a kid who did not enjoy the structures and limitations of being a kid lead me to becoming a therapist. I struggled relating to my peers, which evolved from frustration to anger. When I finally found a therapist who “got me” I realized that I wanted to help others who might communicate differently or could benefit from social skill development. I support the LGBTQ community and embrace diversity. When I’m not working I am most likely reading a Batman comic book, playing video games, or spending time with my corgi Alfie.

Specialties

Therapy Style

I have worked in the mental health field in a variety of positions across settings from outpatient, schools, and in the home. I have worked primarily with adolescents and teens (and their parents), focusing on anger management, the autism spectrum, and ADHD. I utilize cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as solution focused therapy. I believe in the importance of the client (and family) establishing their own individualized goals. Common goals I have aided clients with in the past are anger management, increased regulation of emotions, and improvement in academic performance. I recognize that the key to a successful therapeutic relationship is a strong rapport built on honest communication.

Background

I began working with children and adolescents in the community in 2008. I received my undergraduate degree from Butler University in 2008 and my graduate degree in Social Work from Winthrop University in 2012. I have worked as an outpatient therapist, diagnostician, and case manager, as well as four years working as part of an Applied Behavioral Analysis program. I am provisionally
licensed by the North Carolina Social Work Certification & Licensure Board (#P014077).

I provide services for individuals, groups, and families focusing on, but not limited to: Anger Management, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Building and Strengthening Interpersonal Relationships, as well as Increased Functioning in Academic/Career settings.
